Fable 2 is the anticipated sequel to the popular original that sold more than 3 million copies. Created by famed game designer Peter Molyneux, Fable 2 for Xbox 360 features an epic story that picks up 500 years after the first game. It offers an open world environment giving players a massive amount of freedom to explore and play as they please, with every decision made contributing to the game itself.

Every Choice Has Its Consequences Fable 2 provides players with a truly immersive experience where a virtually limitless number of choices can be made, all of which have their own consequences, making each game unique. When you start the game, you choose either to play the role of a boy or girl, and depending on your choices, the hero will grow up to be tall or short, good or evil. Players can get married and have children; female player characters will become pregnant, which will then be reflected by their physical appearance.
Early in the game, players are presented with a stray dog for a best friend, who will need to be fed and loved, and will accompany the player throughout his or her life. Depending on the player, the dog will change appearance and assist him or her in various ways, such as alerting of impending dangers and attacking enemies.
Players inhabit the world of Albion and are free to roam the land to as they please. Players can use different expressions to communicate with others, such as taunting and laughing, and even belching or farting.
As the players grow, so does Albion, reflecting the choices that were made earlier in the game. Every house, hut, castle, and dungeon can be purchased if the player wishes. Players can buy up all the land in a town and can become mayor, king, and even emperor of the entire land.
Fable 2 presents a dynamic and free-roaming world that doesn't demand a player to take any one set path. At the same time, players seeking a plot line will find an epic story and quest that they can follow if they wish, along with many side adventures.
Fight Using Different Weapons and Magic Fable 2 introduces a new combat system that allows for mastery of hand weapons, such as swords, long range weapons such as cross-bows and guns, and, of course, magic. Players improve at each discipline with time, and can combine different combat styles when they fight. Other advanced design features include tactical positional advantages that can bring new strategic elements into combat.
Bring Other Players into Your World Fable 2 has a multiplayer mode that allows you to bring other players into your own world. Consistent with the rest of the game, the actions of these other players can be permanent and affect your world. You can explore and fight together with these other players, share treasures, and even fight each other.
Note: Fable 2 will not ship with Online Co-op mode. An update with this functionality is rumored to be released shortly after the launch of the game.
Xbox LIVE Arcade Mini-Games Gamers can play minigames through Xbox LIVE Arcade and earn currency that can be used in Fable 2 to purchase weapons, armor, and other items for the hero.
Fable 2 is rated M for having mature content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older.
Depending on your choices, the protagonist can turn out wildly different -- male, female, good, evil, and more.
Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Game! Comment: This is a great game. It gives you a lot of freedom to play how you would like. All your choices affect how the rest of the game goes. It's for casual and serious gamers alike. If you like RPGs, get this one today! Customer Rating: Summary: Descent game, but too linear and simple Comment: After playing the original fable, I was hoping for a great game with several choices, since the original fable you can make choices in the game that change the overall outcome.
Not in fable 2, your choices change your appearance and the people around you (which are lifeless btw, they never really talk to you), and that's about it. NOthing else int he game is affected in the story at all. Lame. Was expecting a true sequel with many options that change as you go.
Instead , play fallout 3, definitely changes the story as you go, and gives you more options to toy with.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fun Game, But Dissapointing Crashes Comment: I've spent about 10 hours playing the game now. It has very nice graphics and music. It should be an interesting and fun game, but I've got two major complaints.
One is the constant crashing. It will lock up the Xbox 360 console anywhere between just a few minutes to over an hour if you're lucky. It is extremely frustrating to have to power down the console and restart/reload the game again. My feeling is that they rushed to release the game in time for the holiday season. If you read other reviews, this is unfortunately a very common problem. There is NO WAY that the freezing escaped quality control. They knew about the problems, but decided to ship anyway to get the holiday sales. I've applied one available patch available through Xbox Live (Jan 1st), but this has not fixed the freezing problem. Even after more play, I'm going to have serious reservations about purchasing a sequel to this game based on my dissapointment in quality control with this one.
My other complaint are the sexual references. I think most people would agree that an RPG should consist of fighting, magic, quests, gaining experience, character development and customization, purchasing cool and more powerful items, etc. I kid you not -- there are CONDOMS as treasure items. This is so that your character doesn't cause an unwanted pregnancy or catch an STD while having relations with a spouse or prostitute. I'm okay with my kids seeing fighting violence on these sorts of games. Fable II doesn't even have much gore to speak of. But, c'mon, did they have to put condoms in the game and have the involved sexual references? Granted the game is rated M for Mature and it does list sexual content. Just be forewarned. I'm not sure what target audience they were aiming for when deciding to include the sex -- 13 to 15 year old boys whos parents don't keep track of what they're playing? It's just not something one expects to see in this type of game. That was so much fun defeating those bandits, getting that cool new spell level, and oh yeah earning those condoms as treasure so that I could go boink a couple of women. I'm not sure what they were thinking.
That being said... The graphics and sound are very nice on our 1080p HDMI connected console and hi-fi system. The controls to fight melee, ranged, and use spells are simple enough to master. Navigating through the menus are a little strange. If you purchase a few books to read, you'll have to navigate deep into the menus again to get to the books. Seems to me it would be more intuitive to just leave the books screen open that to force the user to start over.
Compared to a game like Oblivion, my initial opinion of Fable II is that in Fable they seem to lead your character along a predetermined set of quests much more so than Oblivion. Personally, I like the freedom and openness of Oblivion. In Fable, you can't even go down a small hill unless it presents you with a leap option (the A button). Granted, I've only had a somewhat limited experience with the game, but it doesn't seem to compare to Oblivion.
I do like the lighted pathway which leads you in the direction you're supposed to travel for your active quest. Plus, the red enemy highlight aura is nice.
Overall, this game should be fun but I'm dissapointed in the poor QA of Lionhead Studios and Microsoft Game Studios. Shame on you for releasing this game before you'd fixed the major crashing flaw. Customer Rating: Summary: Call me picky, but I think games should at least be playable before being sold... Comment: I really wish I could give this game a better rating. I started out having great fun, enjoying the graphics and the highly detailed cut scenes, affecting people's opinions of me, buying and selling, etc... however, there's just one problem.
I can't beat this game.
No, I'm not saying it's too hard. I mean I literally can't play through the game. Certain areas required to complete quests cause the game to completely freeze, meaning that you're stuck where you are because you can't advance to the next quest. And if you're stuck in a quest, you also can't sleep to pass the time (you aren't allowed into your bed if you're on a quest).
I played up until Theresa asked my female character to go to Brightwood to find the second hero. Unfortunately, after trying unsuccessfully to enter this area a dozen times, I was forced to start the game over again with a different character. Someone mentioned that if your character is male then the issue with Brightwood doesn't occur, but after spending a full day playing up to the point where I left off with my other character, the game freezes again. It's not a dirty disc, it's not an issue with my XBox... it's a bug.
Way to go Microsoft. Is it just me, or should games actually be fully playable before being released? Especially when you consider how much is being charged for a faulty game... Customer Rating: Summary: :0) Comment: I was a fan of the first and couldn't wait for 2 but its not like 1 but still very interesting and fun to play. LOL the whole having a family thing through me for a loop was not expecting that its kinda like sims having to keep the family happy.
